Synopsis
‘SANCTAPHRAX WILL BE DESTROYED BY THE ENERGY OF THE MOTHER STORM …’
Far over the Edge, the Mother Storm is brewing – a storm more terrifying than any seen in the lifetime of any Edgelander. Sweeping in from the open sky, it must strike the source of the Edgewater River to bring new energy to the land. But in its way is Sanctaphrax – a magnificent city built on a floating rock and tethered to the land by a massive chain… Only one person can save the Edgelands from certain disaster: Twig, the young sky pirate captain who had dared to sail over the Edge – but returned with his memory shattered and his crew flung far and wide. But to recover his memory and take action, Twig must first find his lost crew. And this means a journey back into the Deepwoods – and beyond…
What the critics say
... combines skilfully paced narrative with global issues such as slavery and environmental destruction. Lots of surprising plot developments... full of everything

Richly inventive

Stunningly original
- Guardian
Each book in the series has grown swifter, tenser and more tightly written.
- The New York Times Book Review
‘As before, Stewart’s descriptions of corrupt and disgusting goings-on are brilliantly visualized; also as before, Riddell’s line drawings are exquisitely detailed and notably grotesque…. Altogether this series is so exceptional that if I had any chance of collecting, I’d bet good money on it still being in print a century from now…. When’s the next book coming?’

Editor's Comments
I love working with Paul and Chris on their books. All of the Edge Chronicles are utterly compelling and brilliant fun - with moments of real humour and danger and more. The way they work is fascinating - it's so completely collaborative. Chris's artwork is incredible and you can tell they have a lot of fun coming up with the people, goblins and other creatures who make up the Edgeworld inhabitants.
For anyone who's making a start on the series, you really can read them in any order, but to get the best from them I'd suggest reading them in their three trilogies. The Quint trilogy is first, chronolgically, and consists of The Curse of the Gloamglozer, The Winter Knights and Clash of the Sky Galleons. The Twig trilogy comes next: Beyond the Deepwoods, Stormchaser and Midnight over Sanctaphrax. And then the Rook trilogy: The Last of the Sky Pirates, Vox and Freeglader. All three trilogies and the heroes in them will be tied together in one last story soon... watch this space!
